My trip to Vegas

My favorite part of the trip came on my last day there. I went down the street from the Hilton and stopped by Havana Cigar Co. All I can say is WOW! Ended up having lunch there and getting a couple sticks. Got to meet the owners Johnny and Eileen Devito and get my picture with Johnny. They have a little deli there and a full selection of wines there as well as a selection of cigars. Everyone there is very nice. Service is top-notch. Definitely going there next trip.

Don't expect a full rundown on my trip. I was in classes or on the exhibit floor everyday. I did run into Chuck Woolery in the lobby of the Hilton and I saw John Daly playing baccarat at 6:30 am!
One thing I will mention is that I was awarded the Pursuit of Excellence Award by the National Funeral Directors Association. Got my picture with the NFDA President, I will post that later this week. This is our third year in a row to win the award. Only two percent of the nations funeral homes win the award. Cept they don't mention that many people don't even apply for it :P It is still an honor to be recognized.

Actually worked today!

Back from a 5 hour road trip to pick someone up. He moved from the area many years ago but wanted to be buried up here. Normally I would send one of my part-time guys to go, but A: I had to meet the family while I was down there and B: after a month of no calls cash flow becomes a bit of an issue. So until things pick back up I will be doing a lot of the work I would farm out to my crew.
I am glad I went, it was a nice trip, good weather and a couple of good cigars. For the early morning drive there I had a Macanudo Vintage 1997. It's a lot milder than the La Flor Dominicana's I have. For the trip home I fired up the favorite, LFD Double Ligero Chisel.

Well calls tend to come in three's so I've a feeling this will be a busy week.

Maybe I do have gender issues?

My old friend FloydWing responded to last nights blog posting by suggesting I have gender issues. Of course I found this to be preposterous....at first.

There is a phenomenon known as Nesting. I have seen my wife do it for each of our four kids. Unconsciously you prepare for the birth or coming of your child. It's genetic, animals do it too. I caught my wife standing on the top step of a ladder dusting the top shelf of our kitchen cabinets. She was 9 mos. pregnant with Ed-boy.

This morning , I got word from one of my websites that my beloved i760 will be released labor day week. Suddenly I have found myself cleaning my corner of the living room where I keep Lappy and all my other gadgets. I have three things boxed and posted for sale. Suddenly I realized......

OMG!!! I'M NESTING FOR THAT DARN PHONE!!!!

Think about it. How many times have you heard, "I baby that phone.", "I already ordered the case and screen protector so it's ready when the phone arrives", "At night I keep my phone in its cradle"

We wait and wait and yearn for some of these devices. The rumor/release thread for the i760 at pdaphonehome.com started November 17, 2006 and today has over 4700 posts and closing in on a HALF MILLION VIEWS!

I think we need help. :)

Cigars, ppc's, and tv analogies

I'm out on the swing enjoying a la flor dominicana double ligero chisel and a diet pepsi. Same cigar mr limbaugh enjoys. I don't feel as spastic as before.
I had a thought about my treo I have been using. Its a reliable unit but I miss my sammy 730. I got a camera which I need for my blog but now I can't tether to my nokia 770 tablet. I'm out here in the sticks and wifi spots are never wher I am. Plus I am a self reliant kinda guy. If I can do something without depending on someone else I prefer that. The new 760 better let me tether to my nokia either that or the 6800.
Anyways it reminded me of an episode of roseanne years ago. Becky had just broken up with her badboy boyfriend had a date with a new guy. (follow with me). The new guy was qb for the football team, honor roll, eagle scout kinda guy. As soon as roseanne and her husband met him they knew becky would only date him once. They loved him but they knew it wouldn't last because another bad boy would come along.

So in this scenario I am becky, the first bad boy was my 730, the stable nice guy that is not exciting is the treo and the next badboy will either be the 760 or the 6800.
I know there is no way I could explain this to wifey I figure a few of you technophiles would understand and the rest of you will think I have been inhaling too much cigar smoke. But right now sitting out here on my porch swing it all makes perfect sense.

Bored out of my skull

Man I have been trying to rest my foot today and I cannot stand hanging out around the house anymore. Spent the day on facebook. I gotta get out cruise in my truck for a couple hours with a stogie before I lose it.

Well, in order to provide you readers with some info on what I do it would be nice to actually have some business to talk about, unfortunately we haven't had a call here since July 24. Its just one of those years. The minion and I went to Cleveland today and ran a death certificate that had been delayed for a few weeks because of the doctor. We stopped at Cousin's Cigars on the way home. He likes the CAO cigars. Naturally I picked up some La Flor Dominicana and an Oliva

My foot has been bothering me since the big car show last weekend. I think I need to go to the doctor. Been trying to avoid it.
